Update March 28 ADOPTED!
Sweet Leona was adopted from AC&C around March 14. Her new owner decided Leona wasn’t a good match for her, claiming this beauty is active and is very affectionate, following her and trying to jump onto her shoulders.
So Leona is back on death row, scheduled to die on Sunday.
Leona’s original owner surrendered her because she was moving into a facility that doesn’t allow cats. After 13 years, this sweet kitty was abandoned, then adopted, then returned to the shelter, all in less than a week.
Facebook: Pets on Death Row had this to say about Leona
“Client is surrendering her cats due to a residential change to a home that does not accept pets. Relationship: Client has owned Leona for 13yrs, she was a gift and has no known health issues. People: Leona has lived with 2 adults and has not been around children. Leona is very friendly towards strangers and allows people to pet her with no signs of aggression. Other Animals: Leona has lived with other cats and gets along well with them. Leona does not really play with the other cats but respects them around her. Leona has lived with a dog and got along well with him. Owner stated she did not play with the dog but respected him when he comes near her.”
Won’t someone please offer Leona a loving home, or at least rescue or foster care? She already has more than $100 in pledges to help save her. Since Leona prefers lounging around to playing, she’ll be low maintenance. She loves being petted and comes to the front of her cage at the shelter when approached. All this girl wants is someone to cherish her during her golden years.
If you can help save Leona, click here. Killing begins at 6 a.m., so this is a super urgent situation. Please contact several rescues to be sure at least one of them steps up for her in time. Only approved rescues can save cats at Manhattan Center.
You must include all contact info for yourself, including email and phone to any rescue you contact. Explain to them that the animal is on the ACC euthanasia list for the next morning and that you would like to foster/adopt.
A cat should never have to die for offering too much love. Please share Leona with the hope a rescue will step up and take her before her time runs out.
