Concerned neighbor Karl Collyer filmed the grandson of Kevin Strange of Genesee County as the 4-year-old repeatedly threw a puppy into the street. The video went viral after Karl posted it online.
In an interview with WSFB, Karl stated
“I just couldn’t believe my eyes. We can’t allow a little puppy to be treated like that. He also has two more dogs.”
Strange was questioned after the video of the Labrador mix puppy named Tippy was shown tossed, where the poor pup landed on this legs, head or back, and desperately tried to run back into the yard.
Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell was shown the video and began an investigation.
The 4-year-old lives with his mother and Strange, who is his grandfather. Tippy was removed from the home and will go up for adoption, but unfortunately, there are two other dogs living at the residence.
Strange was arrested on Monday on an unrelated charge. He’s the legal owner of the dog, but Monday’s arrest was for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. It’s expected animal cruelty charges will soon be made against him.
Child Protective Services in Michigan are looking into the care of the boy. It’s already been determined he’ll need psychological help to prevent future abuse of animals.
