This is the heartbreaking story of two dogs who were abandoned and starving before being rescued by Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter, their Facebook page reported September 24.
One pit mix was in a cage, and another was next to an open window, so afraid of humans she was ready to jump to her death rather than be caught. Scott Crawford, Assistant Director for AHS, cautiously secured the terrified dog.
The two rescues, now known as Willow and Autumn, were taken to the AHS Newark shelter, where they were immediately given a bowl of water.
One of the dogs had recently had a litter, but no litter was found at the abandoned house. We can only guess what became of the pups. As for Autumn and Willow, both are traumatized, confused and have suffered abuse and neglect.
Both dogs are quiet and are eager to accept offerings of food and water. The staff is also giving them something they may never have had in their old life-comfort and love.
Unfortunately, the story of Willow and Autumn isn’t that unusual. Because of this, AHS needs your help in caring for the abused and forgotten animals in their community.
“Our staff sees such neglected orphans arrive all too often and make an effort to let these two newcomers feel comforted. We have named them Autumn and Willow and we are hoping to make a difference in their lives for that is the reason we are here. This is where your donation dollars help us to help them. Our hearts break for every sad story in which an animal has been so badly abused and neglected.”
If possible, please donate to their care.via their website.
