The Jesse’s Place Rescue representative returned on Monday, only to learn Big Fluffy had been killed. Police Chief James Buie claims the representative didn’t make herself clear that she’d be returning on Monday, and their rules said the dog would be killed at the end of Friday if not rescued.
In an interview with Fox46 Charlotte, Chief Buie claims
“If we did wrong I would be the first to admit it and we’d correct that.”
Jesse’s Place Rescue tells a different story
“She was assured the dog would be there until Monday for her to come back and tell them, point blank, no misunderstanding, that she would be back on Monday.”
This is a case where the rescue should be believed over the word of the police department, which oversees the operations of the rural shelter. No rescue would ever leave a dog behind knowing it would be killed.
