A month after two kittens were killed, animal advocates demand change at a Michigan shelter.
Instead, they were labeled “behavior untreatable” and euthanized on intake. Daisy and Lily were never even given a chance at a happy home. Did they growl or hiss? Was this their “behavior” issue, because if it is, the staff needs to familiarize themselves as to how kittens react when afraid.
You can help save other kittens who may come into SCACC with the same “untreatable” condition. Animal advocates are being asked to send a message to Sanginaw County Municipal Shelter and tell them this is behavior that won’t be tolerated.
More information can be found on this Facebook thread.
Contact information for the shelter is listed below. Please be polite but firm, with no threats.
Animal advocates are slowly bringing about change in the shelter system by speaking up, as well as exposing bad shelters. Daisy and Lily will never know the love of a forever family, thanks to the decision made by the shelter to kill them without even giving them a chance.
