An Upstate South Carolina man is charged with two counts of criminal domestic violence in the second degree and one count of ill treatment of animals after he assaulted a young mother and injured her cat, Fox Carolina News reported August 26.
On Monday, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said they charged Jonathan Ochoa, 31 of New Woodruff Road in Greer after Ochoa grabbed a woman he lived with who has two children and caused bruising. Arrest warrants state Ochoa also bruised the underside of the victim’s jaw. The woman has been in what she called an abusive relationship with Ochoa for the past seven years.
Unfortunately, the family cat was also injured when Ochoa and the victim were arguing. Ochoa threw the cat to the ground several times, causing injuries to the cat’s mouth, including teeth being knocked out. During the scuffle, Ochoa was scratched on the right knee by the cat.
Fearing Ochoa would kill her cat, the victim has since given the cat to a friend. Domestic violence should never be tolerated.
