According to a March 6 report by Fox Carolina News, two South Carolina police officers were arrested Friday following an investigation.
Taylor, a former patrol officer with the York Police Department, resigned Wednesday but had been on administrative leave since mid-February. Schurig, an officer with the Chester Police Department, is on unpaid administrative leave until the investigation is concluded.
Chief Andy Robinson with the York Police Department issued a media statement saying he was surprised, as Taylor had never been in trouble with the department in the past.
Chester Police officials report
“Sergeant Audrey Schurig is under suspension with no pay for right now but subject to change in the upcoming days. This matter is still under investigation by Rock Hill Police Department and SLED. No further comment at this time.”
SLED reported the child is being treated at a Charlotte hospital, but no information on his condition has been released. If convicted on the felony charge of abuse to inflict bodily injury charge, Taylor could be facing 20 years in prison.
According to SLED, the investigation is ongoing with the Rock Hill Police Department. The couple is scheduled to be extradited back to South Carolina on March 9.
