Waller County, Texas deputies and volunteers are rounding up more than 30 horses from a licensed veterinarian in Hockley, ABC13 News reported July 10.
Volunteers with True Blue Animal Rescue worked throughout the day on Friday, loading the horses and taking them to foster homes.
“We’ve had a lot of people that get on social media for attention and they’ve spread information that’s not correct.”
Christin McCumber described the condition of the horses as
“Just the condition of these horses has been really bad. Just really, really bony. It’s pretty horrendous to watch it.”
Rocket Rosen, Digilio’s attorney, is defending his client saying he has personally seen all of the horses on the Digilio’s property, and that Digilio takes care of any horses that may be sick. In an interview with KHOU News, Rosen stated
“Yes, I have. We have been out there numerous times. They’re healthy and they’re strong and they’re ready to go. There may be one that may be sick or doesn’t look like a Secretariat.”
Rosen told ABC13 News that a neighborhood vendetta is to blame, saying
“This is a veterinarian who loves and cares and has educated herself to take care of animals to ensure their health and their strength and their safety. It’s shocking, traumatic and it’s not right.”
KPRC2 News reported Digilio will turn herself in on Monday. She had sued several of her neighbors for slander, but the lawsuit was dismissed in April, 2015. The warrant against the veterinarian stems from malnourishment and neglect allegations.
Digilio intends to fight the charges against her in court.
