A cat killer is on the loose in Florida, leaving residents whose cats stay outdoors to fear for their safety after a fourth severed cat was discovered last weekend, NBC2 News reported May 16.
A killer is on the loose in Collier County — a cat killer that is.
A cat was found cut in half on the side of Estey Avenue in Naples Saturday morning. This comes after three severed cats were found on the same street two weeks ago.
“They only found half of the cat, so we’re still looking for the other half of the cat,” said Smith. “It’s frightening. I’m concerned about my own animals.“
Ruth Luenterbusch was the unlucky resident who found the most recent kill, telling NBC
“I thought it’s a boot or something. But I got closer with my dogs, and my dogs started pulling. I saw it was half of a cat,” said neighbor Ruth Luenterbusch.”
No one has come forward to report a missing cat, and the neighborhood continues to look for the owner. Since studies prove those who mutilate animals often move up and begin harming people, residents are hoping this cat killer is caught soon.
Needless to say, the best way to ensure the safety of a cat, regardless of where you live, is to keep it indoors or in a safe outdoor enclosure.
