The quarantine for the suspected Anderson County, S.C. puppy mill raid has been lifted, and many of the dogs will be going up for adoption September 4.
P.A.W.S. did offer a pre-screening service for the dogs to speed things up. Potential adopters were asked to contact Brande at email@example.com .
The shelter will open at noon Wednesday, and remain open until 6 p.m. Dogs are at the new Anderson County P.A.W.S. location at 1320 Highway 29 South in Anderson.
If you plan to adopt a puppy mill dog, please remember these dogs may need a lot of help with issues such as housebreaking. Many have lived in a cage their entire life, and have physical as well as emotional issues to deal with.
Puppy mill adoptions across the United States show many dogs being returned to shelters because of issues the new owner wasn’t aware of.
Adopting a puppy mill dog is a decision not to be taken lightly. Research what you’re getting into before committing to one of these dogs. It will save a lot of heartbreak down the road for both the dog and the person who wants to bring a new pet into their family.
