In a Charlotte, North Carolina neighborhood that’s always been safe, a 7-year-old cat is recovering after being shot at close range, WBTV News reported July 6.
“It made me sick. I wanted to be sick, I wanted to throw up. I just couldn’t believe that somebody could intentionally take a gun to a pet.”
Susan rushed Miss Kitty to Sharon Lakes Animal hospital, where she was told an amputation was necessary to save Miss Kitty’s life. The surgery was performed on Monday, and Miss Kitty is expected to recover.
It doesn’t appear to be an accident. Susan told WBTV News
“Because it hit her, the shot was in the chest, the intent was probably to kill her so that just threw it to a whole other dimension.”
Neighbors are upset that someone would shoot a defenseless cat and leave it to die. Susan says from now on Miss Kitty will be an indoor only kitty.
CMPD is in charge of the investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact CMPD Animal Services at 704-336-7600.
