A Fort Mill mom took the law into her own hands after she caught her daughter having sex, Fox Carolina reported March 5.
Mom, being a true southern woman ready to defend her family, grabbed her BB gun and pointed it at Pittman until the York County Sheriff’s deputies arrived.
At first, mom thought Pittman was an intruder until her 15-year-old daughter admitted she invited the man over to have sex with him. The two had been in contact for five months after meeting on the social media website Kik.
The daughter knew Pittman was 23 years old, but Pittman told the mom he was only 17. She didn’t learn his true age until deputies arrived at her home. When told his true age, the girl’s mother said
“If I knew he was 23 at the time, I probably would have pulled this BB gun and shot him.”
Not knowing worked both ways in this incident. Mom didn’t know his real age, and Pittman didn’t realize mom was holding a BB gun to his chest.
The Fort Mill mother says her daughter is very lucky. It’s dangerous to invite people to your home who you’ve only had social media contact with.
Mom would like to remind parents to talk with their children and be aware of who they’re connecting with on the internet. This situation could have ended much differently if Pittman had been carrying a weapon.
Pittman was charged with 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and released on $15,000 bond.
The daughter lost her cell phone, internet privileges and she’s grounded.
Mom is also asking anyone who had a similar experience with Pittman to contact the York County Sheriff’s office. There’s a good chance he’s committed a similar crime involving underage girls in the York County area.
