A 14-year-old Westview Middle School male student is now facing charges in juvenile court after bringing a .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun to school last Friday.
In an interview with Gwd.Today, Captain Dale Kittles, Community Services Commander at Greenwood County Sheriff’s Officer praised the teacher who discovered the gun. “I can’t say enough about the administration at the school. There was never a child in danger from the moment that alert teacher discovered the weapon on the student.”
The punishment for bringing a gun onto school property, whether the gun is loaded or unloaded, may include expulsion and criminal charges.
The student was released into the custody of a parent and will have to appear in juvenile court.
