 Sesame street addresses bullying

The PBS show set to air on Monday, October 17, 2011, will address preschool bullying. This episode will feature Big Bird as he attempts to join The Good Birds Club and is harassed by a bully who makes fun of him.

The show stated in an interview on Thursday that bullying takes place in children as young as three years old. Tips will be given to both parents and preschoolers on how to overcome bullying.

Children will be shown how to recognize a bully and children will be encouraged to involve a trusted adult to step in and help smooth things over.

Shows airing on October 18 and 21 will teach children to be proud of who they are and to be more accepting of others.

Bullying at every age has become a nationwide epidemic and Sesame Street is to be applauded for facing this difficult issue head on.
