An Ohio cat owner and the cat he lost seven months ago in Indiana have been reunited.
Thanks to the efforts of Jamie’s Legacy and the miracle of social networking, a 4-year-old feline named Midnight has been reunited with his owner, Richard Ellis.
Although Jamie’s Legacy didn’t invite news media to the event, they did most an uplifting message on their Facebook page.
“What an amazing and affirming few days we have all had. Today Richard and I talked about how this experience has reminded us both of just how many caring and wonderful people there are in the world. Seeing so much negative news everyday, combined with our busy and stressed lives, we can and do, all I think, sometimes lose sight of that. We hope that for all of you, Richard and Midnights story will lighten your hearts and remind you as well, that good and love do surrounds us all. We just need to push the negative away and let the light of it shine through.”
A few people hoped the media would be present for the reunion. Jamie’s Legacy made the decision that Richard’s meeting with Midnight was a private event, and wouldn’t be photographed or on video. Even those at the reunion representing Jamie’s Legacy chose to give Midnight and Richard some private time in their Little Palace room.
When the door was opened, and the moments between Midnight and Richard were ready to be shared, a member of Jamie’s Legacy described what she saw
“Standing outside the room, I was brought to tears hearing the voice of this man calling to and talking to Midnight in a voice that is reserved for small children and our beloved pets. There was no doubt in any of our minds that Midnight recognized that voice immediately and was comforted by the familiar hand that at last was stroking and touching him again.”
After their alone time, Richard placed Midnight in his carrier for the three-hour trip home. While going over the medical care Midnight had received, Richard would open the cage and place his hand inside for Midnight to lay his cheek against.
Midnight will need awhile to adjust to being back at home, but thanks to Jamie’s Legacy and the thousands who shared it hoping for a reunion, he’s back with the owner who cherishes him and has missed him dearly.
Please share the story of Jamie and Midnight, and remember the next time you post about a lost or found pet, you may be the one person who will bring them together. Social media networking works, Midnight’s story is proof.
