The dog and kitten are being held at Anderson County PAWS. Director Jessica Cwynar told news media they believe the dog is going through a pseudo-pregnancy where she’s actually producing some milk. However, it’s not enough for the kitten, so kitten milk replacement is also being bottle fed.
The unusual duo is now going by the names Goldie and Kate. The mother dog is at least five years old and has a collar. She’s also been groomed recently. Since she obviously belongs to someone in the area, Anderson County PAWS will be holding the dog and kitten for 14 days to allow the family to claim the pets.
Hopefully, Goldie and Kate will be allowed to remain together since they’ve formed a close bond. People from across the country are in awe of this newfound heroine and her unusual adopted baby.
Right now they’re relaxing in a quiet area of the shelter, and both are doing great.
To be sure only the dog’s owner claims the dog, they will require veterinarian and grooming records to prove ownership. If no one claims the duo, then they’ll be put up for adoption after the waiting period.
